NFL: New York Giants star Jason Pierre-Paul ‘severely’ hurt in fireworks accident while playing future up in the air

JASON Pierre-Paul has been unhappy with a lack of a long-term contract, but he now may have a much bigger problem on his hands — literally.

JASON Pierre-Paul has been unhappy with a lack of a long-term contract, but he now may have a much bigger problem on his hands — literally.

The Giants’ star defensive end “severely” injured his hand in a fireworks accident, according to WINZ Radio in Miami. Fox Sports confirmed that the 26-year-old suffered a hand injury, but the extent was unknown.

Details are sparse, but according to various reports, Pierre-Paul was shooting off fireworks on the Fourth of July in Miami. A woman claiming to be his neighbour posted a photo on Twitter, indicating she was assisting him with the fireworks, which were transported in a U-Haul truck.

Earlier Saturday, Pierre-Paul had posted a video on his Instagram page that featured a U-Haul truck in the background.

The timing is especially unfortunate for Pierre-Paul, who has yet to sign a franchise tender to play this season. While he has been campaigning for a long-term deal, the Giants had extended the $14.8 million deal for this season.
