NFL Blitz: Fan rejects $20k for Kearse game-winning ball, Gronkowski on ‘Deflate-gate’, no pants fan, Super Wilfork

SEATTLE’S game-winning ball could have gifted a Seahawks fan a cool $20,000. Thing is, he doesn’t want the money. That and more in NFL Blitz.

CHECK out what went down in the weird and wacky world of the NFL in the final games before the Super Bowl.

FAN TO KEEP KEARSE BALL DESPITE BIG BUCKS

The game-winning overtime touchdown catch from Jermaine Kearse got Seattle to the Super Bowl, but it could have also gifted a Seahawks fan a cool $20,000. Thing is, the fan doesn’t want the money.

Scott Shelton caught the ball that Kearse threw into the crowd moments after the historic touchdown. The father of two is currently out of a job and a day after Super Bowl XLIX is expected to go to jail for several months. Despite being offered $20,000 by a memorabilia collector he has said no. Kearse himself even called Shelton offering the game-worn helmet signed by the team and a jersey, but until he gets tickets to Arizona in the deal as well, the Seahawks fan isn’t budging. However he did say if the ball was going to anyone else, it should go to Kearse.

SEATTLE FAN PANTSED

It’s an image that will be remembered for years to come — and it’s not of Russell Wilson or any Seahawks players. No, this pants-down fan got our attention for just being downright wacky. Why were his pants around his ankles? We’ll never know. But it’s obvious he’s having a great time, and that’s OK.

DON’T LEAVE THE GAME EARLY, EVER

They say ‘it ain’t over till it’s over’, but some Seattle fans forgot that, and like dummies, missed the epic finale of their NFC Championship showdown with the Packers. Spotted outside of CenturyLink Field some Seahawks supporters were forced to find out the incredible result from TVs and the stadium’s PA system, even though they had a ticket to actually watch it live.

GIANTS KICKER TROLLS PATRIOTS

Nobody likes kickers, but especially so when they try to be funny or cool or claim they are just like the rest of the non-kicker population.

Former New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes brought out his sassy side on social media this week, reminding the Patriots of their lack of success in Arizona, the location for Super Bowl XLIX. Tymes was in the Giants side that defeated New England twice in the Super Bowl, one of which was in Glendale. Sick burn, bro.

SUPERMAN OR WILFORK?

Upon returning home from New England’s AFC Championship victory, big centre Vince ‘Put More Food on My Fork’ Wilfork turned good samartian, by rescuing a woman from an upturned car ... with one hand. One hand. It’s the stuff of legend, but Wilfork wasn’t talking up his heroics.

“I wanted to help. Anybody would do the same thing,” Wilfork told media.

SEAHAWKS SOCIAL MEDIA FAUX PAS

Hey Seattle social media manager, maybe don’t compare a crying Russell Wilson after the NFC Championship win to a civil rights quote used by Martin Luther King Jnr, on MLK Day. Just a thought.

DEFLATE-GATE ACCORDING TO GRONK

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski gave his take on the ‘Deflate-gate’ scandal that is currently seeing his team investigating for deliberately using deflated footballs in their game against Indianapolis.

SUPER BOWL BALLS READY TO GO

Ever wondered what goes into the making of a Super Bowl ball? The Wilson factory in Ohio opened their doors to the NFL to show exactly what goes into the elaborate process. This isn’t just a matter of stitching together some rubber patches. Check out the full gallery here.

VINCE LOMBARDI QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“To the winner, there is 100-percent elation, 100-percent fun, 100-percent laughter; and yet the only thing left to the loser is resolution and determination.”

This pretty much sums up the feelings of Seattle and the 12th man supporters after that miraculous victory over the Packers. Nothing exemplifies this best as Michael Bennett commandeering a police bike to do a victory lap around CenturyLink Field.
