‘This won’t age well’: Josh Giddey surprisingly snubbed from NBA honour
Aussie teen Josh Giddey had a sensational rookie season in the NBA but he wasn’t impressed when he was snubbed for a major accolade.
Australian teen sensation Josh Giddey has been surprisingly snubbed from the NBA All-Rookie first team.
The NBA announced the All-NBA first and second rookie teams on Thursday and Giddey was named on the second team, despite his record-breaking rookie season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder rookie received 32 first team votes (worth two points) and 59 second team (worth one point) votes for a total of 122 points, which put him behind Herbert Jones (123), Jalen Green (158) and Franz Wagner (183).
Giddey missed the last quarter of the NBA season with a hip injury and it appears the voters had some serious recency bias as they opted to include Houston’s Jalen Green in the first team instead of the Aussie.
Giddey became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double, and he remarkably had three triple-doubles in a row in February.
The 19-year-old won four out of the five Western Conference Rookie of the Month awards but that wasn’t enough to get him onto the NBA-All Rookie first team.
The snub comes after Giddey was overlooked in the Rookie of the Year award, in which he didn’t receive a single vote despite his impressive season.
He clearly wasn’t impressed with his omission from the NBA-All Rookie first team, taking to social media to express his disdain in the form of some laugh crying and raised eyebrows emojis.

NBA fans were shocked Giddey didn’t make the cut and argued he should have been in the All-Rookie first team in place of Green, who finished the season well.
OKC beat writer Brandon Rahbar tweeted: “The only time Jalen Green was better than Josh Giddey this season was when Josh Giddey didn’t play.”
Basketball reporter Roy Ward said: “At least the voters remembered Josh Giddey enough to throw him into the All-Rookie second team.
“Wagner and Green are very good players but I reckon historically this will be seen as flawed decision.”
Oakleigh Chargers coach Jason Davenport said: “Yeah, na. This won’t age well leaving @joshgiddey off First Team. Let alone the fact he just flat out deserved it!”

4x West Rookie of the Month
1st in assists
2nd in rebounding
8th in scoring https://t.co/xIRCVlwtEY
Josh Giddey won Rookie of the Month over Jalen Green four times - every month Giddey played.

JGreen won Rookie of the Month once - the month Giddey missed.
Green is great and killed it down the stretch. Giddey missing time hurt his case.
But Giddey had a better rookie season. https://t.co/lv6rz2BaGC
Josh Giddey won four out of the five NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month awards, and misses out on All-Rookie first team to Jalen Green, who won one out of five (Giddey's team sat him for the last month of the season to stop him winning them so many games) https://t.co/HVge7SFNSd
