Mills was one of four Brooklyn players, the others being superstars Kevin Durant, James Harden and LaMarcus Aldridge, to score 20 points or more as the Nets moved to second in the NBA’s Eastern Conference standings.

But apart from his trademark sharp shooting, Mills was involved in a hilarious moment with an opposition player that had fans in stitches.

With Cleveland’s big man stocks heavily depleted due to injuries, the Cavaliers called upon Senegalese giant Tacko Fall to play some minor game time against Brooklyn.

Fall is a towering figure standing at 229cm and is the tallest player currently playing in the NBA.

He also ranks among the all-time top 10 tallest players ever to take the court in the league.

Midway through the game, there was a mix-up on Brooklyn’s defence and suddenly Mills found himself guarding Fall, who backed up against him near the hoop and looked certain to score an easy basket.

But Mills, who at 185cm tall was giving up a massive 44cm height difference, held his own against Fall and refused to let him score, fouling the enormous Cavalier and forcing him to go to the free-throw line.

Viewers found the huge mismatch hilarious and praised Mills for standing his ground and putting his body on the line when he could have easily been knocked down if Fall dunked over hm.

Credit to Mills,” one TV commentator said, adding: “He’s doing his best.”

Another described Mills attempting to defend Fall as “like climbing a tree”.

His 21-point haul was the 33-year-old’s fourth haul of 20 points or more for the season.

Speaking after the game, Mills had an amusing response when asked to explain why it had taken him a little while to get going after a “cold” shooting start to his first season with Brooklyn.

“I just moved to New York,” he said.

“I don’t have any warm clothes yet.”
