NBA Briefs | Joe Ingles has jokes about Donovan Mitchell-Rudy Gobert feud, LaVale McGee loses it over Steph Curry boast

Aussie NBA star Joe Ingles has brought some lightness to the rumoured feud between two of his high profile teammates.

Rudy Gobert was the first player effected.

Aussie NBA star Joe Ingles may truly show his benefit to the Utah Jazz organisation, sharing his true colours amid a reported unsalvageable rift between his teammates.

Ingles is one of the mainstays with the Jazz as the team was the epicentre of the NBA’s decision to suspend the league, when French star Rudy Gobert was “patient zero” for the league, the first player diagnosed with the disease.

It was an especially bad look for Gobert, when he touched all the media’s microphones and voice recorders in front of him in a media conference two days before testing positive for the virus, which has now claimed more than 100,000 lives worldwide.

Gobert has profusely apologised and even donated $800,000 to health services and arena employees.

But his NBA All-Star teammate Donovan Mitchell also came down with the virus testing positive the following day.

The coronavirus has reportedly driven a wedge between the Jazz’s two biggest stars.

Soon, there were reports of frustration coming out of the Jazz locker room after Gobert had been “careless” leading up to his diagnosis, according to ESPN and The Athletichave now reported.

It’s reportedly driven a wedge between the pair and The Athletic has reported it’s become untenable.

While the story says “there’s no way to know if Gobert gave it to Mitchell or if it was the other way around or some other factor”.

The team has reportedly tried to explain the fact to Mitchell but in a video call on Good Morning America on March 16, it was clear he was still not happy and the sources say Mitchell “remains reluctant to fix what might have been broken.

“It doesn’t appear salvageable,” one unnamed source said.

While it seems like the rift might be the end of the Jazz’s current iteration, Ingles entered to add a bit of light.

When a Twitter user questioned if the team was “pissed at Rudy”, Ingles brushed it off expertly.

Ingles has been dismissive of the rift allegations, tweeting “lol” after it broke and remaining lighthearted on line.

Joe Ingles is worth every dollar the Jazz spend on him.

In The Athletic story, Ingles is confident getting back on court will fix some of the issues.

“I’m confident our team is going to be totally fine,” Ingles said. “I heard Donovan’s response (on GMA), or whatever it was, to that question, and a part of that is on Donovan and Rudy to sort out if he’s frustrated with him or whatever.

“But I have no doubt when we go back to training, or when our season starts again, our team is going to be what we have been and what we are. … I’m confident our team will be completely fine. The chemistry will be fine.”

LAKER LOSES IT OVER CURRY BOAST

Steph Curry has dropped a brutal — and hilarious — warning.
Steph Curry has dropped a brutal — and hilarious — warning.

While the NBA has been in quarantine, arguably the most active player on social media has been Steph Curry.

The former two-time MVP and three-time champion has spoken with an Oakland ICU nurse to praise her “grit and inspiration” and spoke to the US; chief immunologist Dr Anthony Fauci on Instagram Live.

But when he jumped on a video with former teammate turned Laker JaVale McGee, the world saw a different side to Curry.

McGee asked Curry: "What team or player on that team that you know is guarding you, do you look at and be like, 'Oh yeah, I'm getting 60 tonight?'"

And Curry replied with the perfect answer one-word answer: “Everybody”.

It sent McGee crazily running through his house screaming while Curry laughed.

"What is going on?" McGee said. "Steph Curry just took shots at every player in the NBA."

"Quarantine done changed me," Curry laughed.

Unfortunately, it’s still up in the air when we will actually see Curry make good on his promise.
