NBA 2020: Tobias Harris calls for action over Breonna Taylor’s death

An NBA star has used his platform to deliver a telling message to one man who has the power to do what so many are calling out for.

Tobias Haris wants the police arrested.

Philadelphia 76ers star Tobias Harris wasn’t interested in answering media questions on Tuesday.

The small forward instead used his time on camera and in front of the microphone to his advantage in a powerful moment.

As the interview got underway Harris was asked about T-shirts being made with messages around social justice and racial equality.

Harris however quickly moved past the question and launched in to a message directed at Kentucky’s attorney general.

“Nothing against the T-shirts, but we want to make sure that [Kentucky attorney general] Daniel Cameron arrests the cops and officers involved with Breonna Taylor’s death,” Harris said. “That’s all I’ve got to say.”

Harris repeated the message to the media members on the call.

“That’s going to be my answer for every question — for Daniel Cameron to step up and do what’s right. That’s the only message I’ve got today.”

He then thanked the media before walking away from the call.

Tobias Harris’ media availability today lasted 59 seconds.

He had one message.

Three months ago, it’s been alleged the officers arrived at Taylor’s home in the US city of Louisville with an infamous “no-knock” warrant, where the nursing student was asleep and unarmed.

It’s alleged the three men shot 20 bullets into the home, fatally striking Ms Taylor at least eight times during a narcotics investigation though no drugs were found on the premises.

The officers, Jon Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove, have been placed on administrative reassignment while the shooting is investigated.

Harris’ powerful message was backed by his fellow NBA superstars who shared the sentiment with their social media followers.
