Steph Curry wins dramatic NBA All-Star 3-point contest

Golden State superstar Steph Curry dominated the first round of the NBA All-Star 3-point contest but it got extremely tense at the end.

There’s three-point shooters and then there’s Stephen Wardell Curry — and the Golden State Warriors superstar showed he’s a class above in today’s 3-point contest at the NBA All-Star game.

Boston forward Jayson Tatum laid down a strong early score of 25 (of a possible 40) in the first round before Utah guard Mike Conley came out shooting fire to raise the bar to 28.

But Curry, shooting last, made a mockery of those scores, hitting 21 of 27 shots to put up a score of 31. And he did it with ease to join Conley and Tatum in the second round.

Tatum lost his flow in the second round, only putting up 17, but Conley stayed hot and set another tough mark for Curry by scoring 27.

Curry got off to a shaky start, missing his first four shots, but he found a rhythm and jumped back into contention by nailing both of the extra-deep shots worth three points each.

It made the final rack crucial, and he needed his last triple to go in to jump into the lead. Of course, he nailed it to become a two-time 3-point champion.

“It kind of went blank,” Curry said of his mind before the final shot. “I could hear the temperature rise a little bit, and I just knew I had to knock it down.

“It was a fun battle — Mike shot well … I’m glad I got it done.”

Curry dedicated the win to his injured teammate Klay Thompson, who won the contest in 2016. “The Splash bros, we are back,” Curry said. “This one goes out to Klay Thompson, we got it done big fella.”
