LeBron James has one key goal he’s yet to accomplish in the NBA

LEBRON James has accomplished everything imaginable during his 15-year NBA career, but he has one last goal to achieve.

LeBron James is hoping to realise one final goal before his career wraps up.
LeBron James is hoping to realise one final goal before his career wraps up.

LEBRON James is one of the greatest players to have ever graced the hardwood in the NBA. You can debate where he belongs on that list until the cows come home, but he’s earned a spot right near the top.

From eight straight trips to the Finals, to claiming four MVPs, there isn’t much the man anointed “The King” hasn’t achieved.

He promised upon his return to Cleveland that he would deliver a championship to his hometown city and in 2016 he completed that goal.

James has been in the media spotlight since his teenage years and despite the intense scrutiny, has continued to flourish.

For all he has achieved, there is one major milestone James is wanting to add to his ultra-impressive career.

While taking down the machine that is the Warriors again would be high on his list, this one achievement has nothing to do with championships or breaking any new records.

No, James’ ultimate goal and one he dubbed “once in a lifetime” is to share the floor with his son, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr.

Prior to the 2018 NBA Finals getting underway, players are thrown to the awaiting media and forced to answer any number of questions.

In a video feature published by Uninterupted, James can be seen in a room with the ABC’s commentary team comprising Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, Doris Bourke and Mark Jackson.

After being asked by Breen what the greatest achievement of his life was, James explained it hadn’t yet happened.

“You want to ask me what is the greatest achievement of my life? James said.

“If I’m on the same court as my son in the NBA. That would be number one in my lifetime as an NBA player.

“I’ve thought about it because my son is about to be 14, and he might be able to get in there a little earlier.”

Could we one day see these two lining up together or squaring off?
Could we one day see these two lining up together or squaring off?

With James having just finished season number 15 in the league, the possibility may seem farfetched. But crazier things have happened.

James has yet to show any signs of slowing down and with his son continuing to showcase that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree, the duo could find themselves on the same floor one day.

Will it be as teammates or opponents, even James isn’t worried about that.

“Play together?” Mike Breen asks, to which the response is a quick “or against" from James.

The NBA have continued to look into abolishing the one-and-done rule which will force college players to spend two-years in the collegiate system before being eligible for the NBA.

Of course there are ways around this however it could add some speed bumps to the incredible tale of a father taking on his son in the biggest basketball league in the world.

If the dream doesn’t eventuate into a reality, perhaps we’ll see The King move into the front office or even a coaching role and help guide his son to the pinnacle of the NBA.
