Josh Giddey has continued to write himself into the NBA’s record books, steering his OKC Thunder to victory with another stellar showing.

Josh Giddey has continued his red hot form, producing his fourth triple-double of the season as the Oklahoma City Thunder upset the Brooklyn Nets 121-107 on Wednesday (AEDT).

The Australian finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, as well as two steals as he notched up the eighth triple-double of his career.

Three of his Thunder teammates scored more than 20 points — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (35), Jalen Williams (23), Lu Dort (24) — but Giddey had a game high 13 assists, including a gorgeous jumpspin pass to Dort to set up an open three pointer.

A strong third quarter saw the Thunder come back from 16 points down to defeat the Nets by 14 points.

Giddey sealed the win when he was left wide open and nailed a three-point dagger with two minutes remaining.

The 20-year-old was seriously pumped up after the shot, and deservedly so, given he continues to break several records.

He surpassed LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson for the second most triple doubles by a player before turning 21 years old — a record held by Mavericks star Luka Doncic with 21 triple doubles.

Giddey is tied for 72nd on the all-time list for most NBA triple doubles.

As we reach the pointy end of the regular season, every win is crucial for the Thunder, who are jostling to finish in the top 10 of the Western Conference to secure a spot in the play-in tournament.

OKC have won sixth of their last seven games and are in a three-way tie for eighth with the LA Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans with a 34-35 win-loss record.

After a couple of very lean years, the Thunder are well on track to record their best win-loss record since the 2019/20 season.

Giddey is in a serious purple patch right now. Just last week, he left the league’s jaws on the floor with a career-best 17-assist triple double, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double with more than 15 assists.
