In a letter — obtained by the website and sent to Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter on July 29 — head coach Jamie Trachsel was allegedly involved in an attempt to cover up the relationship between Browder and the senior student-athlete, who has not been named.
Carter reportedly received the letter from another senior athlete on the team, who was dating the athlete involved with Browder. The unnamed Ole Miss player reportedly took screenshots of text messages between her girlfriend and Browder, printed the exchanges and taped them to a computer in the coach’s office.
Trachsel, who’s accused of “covering up a sexual misconduct scandal involving two super seniors and a female assistant coach,” allegedly tried to bribe the players with scholarship money to remain quiet.
“The university does not confirm or comment on Title IX reviews,” an Ole Miss spokesperson told USA TODAY Sports.
A separate formal complaint, obtained by Running Poles, was sent to the offices of Ole Miss Equal Opportunity and Regulation, Southeastern Conference Compliance and NCAA Academic and Membership Affairs on May 10.
The complaint alleges that Trachsel “created and embraced a mentally toxic culture” and failed the program based on NCAA Bylaw 2.2, “where she is responsible for providing an environment that values cultural diversity and gender equality.”
The two seniors involved in the alleged affair reportedly announced in July that they were returning to Ole Miss for their Covid super senior year.
Browder and her wife exchanged vows in December 2019, according to various posts on their now-blocked social media accounts.
Running Poles said Browder and Trachsel did not respond to requests for comment.
