A BRISBANE company will join the likes of Coca-Cola and Budweiser with a multi-million dollar 30 second ad in the Super Bowl today.

A BRISBANE-based company will join mega names like AT&T, Budweiser, and Coca-Cola as a bona fide ad powerhouse during the Super Bowl today.

Michael Hill is a retailer of jewellery in North America and Australasia and has 240 stores in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.

The Queensland-based company is the only (sort of) Australian brand to be screening an ad at today’s Super Bowl which will be seen by over 110 million viewers.

If you want to be specific, Michael Hill is technically a New Zealand business (it was founded there and is traded on the New Zealand stock exchange), but much like Russell Crowe, it lives in Australia and we’ve kind of claimed it as our own.

With some companies spending $4.5 million dollars to Superbowl broadcaster NBC for a 30 second ad, Michael Hill is remaining quiet when it comes to disclosing how much it paid for placement.

“Unfortunately, Michael Hill do not reveal the price they pay for any media buying,” said a spokesperson.

Michael Hill’s creative team went to New York, grabbed more than 1,200 people off the streets and asked them to talk about love.

The resulting video is raw and real, showcasing what love — in all its forms — means to us.

This was then edited down to 30 ‘real’ people in a campaign that aims to pull on our heart strings.

Michael Hill International’s Chief Marketing Officer, Joe Talcott, said the company is excited about securing highly sought after ad space during the NFL Super Bowl XLIX.

“The NFL Super Bowl XLIX is a huge event attracting a massive audience both in the USA, Canada and across the globe,” says Mr Talcott.

“Television advertising has always been a key part of the Michael Hill business strategy.

“Super Bowl offers us a unique opportunity to showcase our brand in front of millions of people. We’ve been working on this campaign for over a year now and have invested a substantial amount in the development of the platform — so to be able to launch it in key markets during the Super Bowl is very exciting.”
