A BIZARRE social media post just cost one young man a fortune.

Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil of Ole Miss was ranked by many as the best player in the draft. After the Rams and Eagles traded up to get quarterbacks, many thought Tunsil would be picked at third by the Chargers, but he wasn’t.

He was skipped at fourth, fifth, sixth and more. It was not until the 13th selection that Tunsil heard his name called, and all because of this video:

It was unclear if teams were scared off by a video posted to Tunsil’s Twitter account Thursday night that showed someone apparently smoking marijuana out of a bong-gas mask contraption.

The video was quickly deleted, but it added to the perception that Tunsil has off-the-field problems. Tunsil’s entire account was later deleted.

According to Sportrac.com the third pick (Tunsil’s consenus ranking) in the 2016 draft is set to earn a cool US$25.8 million. By sliding down to 13th Tunsil will have to make do with just US$12.4 million over his first three years in the league.

That’s high price to pay alright.

TUNSIL CURRENTLY BEING SUED BY STEPFATHER

Tunsil is no stranger to controversy at the moment thanks to a lawsuit filed by his stepfather.

A lawsuit on behalf of Lindsey Miller alleges that Tunsil attacked Miller last June and that Tunsil defamed Miller’s character, according to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger. The suit says those two things were “an intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

Tunsil was arrested after the incident last June, and he and Miller pressed charges against each other at the time. Tunsil alleged he attacked Miller only after Miller attacked Tunsil’s mother, but Miller said the attack was unprovoked. Tunsil pleaded not guilty, and both sides dropped the charges.

Miller, however, is revisiting the incident, which the lawsuit alleges started with a heated conversation about Tunsil’s relationship with agents.

Miller’s new lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorney fees, pre- and post-judgment interest and all costs associated with the suit because of “past, present, and future bodily injury, pain & suffering, severe emotional distress, medical costs, damage to reputation, and/or other types of damages that he has incurred (and will likely continue to incur).”
