Irish NFL fans bypass security and somehow claim Super Bowl XLIX seats worth $50,000

TWO cheeky NFL fans from Ireland have gained global fame after blagging their way into Super Bowl seats worth $50,000. Here’s how they did it.

SOMETIMES, all you have to do is walk in the front door and look like you belong.

Two NFL fans from Ireland, Paul McEvoy and Richard Whelan, came to Glendale, Arizona last week, hoping to score tickets to Super Bowl XLIX.

They weren’t successful, mainly because the prices being asked were sky high.

But a minor detail like a lack of tickets wasn’t about to stop them and they turned up at the University of Phoenix Stadium with a plan. Of sorts.

“Our game plan was to be super confident,” Richard told RTE Radio One Morning Ireland.

“We just thought if we pretend we belong there, nobody will question us.

“Between one layer of security and another we just walked in behind these 20 first aid workers, straight up to the front door and hid in behind them.

“Paul was looking at his phone, pretending to text me, as if we had just popped out to look at an email we got or something,” he continued.

“We walked past another security guard that just wasn’t paying attention.

“We could see the field then, the stadium and the atmosphere was insane.”

The two young men walked quickly around the stadium, not looking back in case they were being followed.

“I remember looking at Paul’s face, we just couldn’t believe we got in,” Richard said.

The pair spent the first half bouncing around from seat to seat, taking advantage of when people would go to the food stands or the toilet.

They also found time to convince the New England Patriots mascot to pose with an Irish flag.

Then the pair managed to take advantage of another amazing stroke of good luck.

They spoke to a man who told him the girls sitting next to him were in the half-time show and wouldn’t be returning to their seats in the second half.

By the way, those seats? In the fourth row and worth a cool $25,000 apiece.

They also got a chance to sit besides former Super Bowl winner Lawyer Milloy, who gave them some live analysis.

The only negative from the day? The two Seattle Seahawks fans watched their team lose to the New England Patriots.

They even found their way onto a VIP bus back to their hotel.

“It was a good day of hustling,” Whelan admitted. “What seemed like impossible came true.’’
