Dallas Cowboys and St Louis Rams fight erupts in NFL preseason

A MASS brawl erupted between two NFL teams in preseason training and as the dust settled some very big stars were left with some very bruised egos.

THE NFL pre-season exploded today as anarchy reigned during a mass brawl between the Dallas Cowboys and St Louis Rams in California.

The two teams were practising with each other for a second straight day in Oxnard, near Los Angeles, when things got a little out of control.

During the training camp opposition players were regularly getting hot under the collar with numerous cases of players threatening to punch on. Then during a live practice game, tensions finally erupted between the two teams.

Dallas coach Jason Garrett and Rams coach Jeff Fisher were able to get their players under control after a brief on-field melee, but on the next play all hell broke loose after a Cowboys player pushed a Rams player he was marking after complaining of an illegal hold.

When Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory pushed Rams offensive tackle Isaiah Battle another Rams teammate ran in and pushed him over. Cue chaos.

The fight spilled over towards a fence at the ground, forcing fans and media to flee from the action.

A video emerged on Twitter after the fight of Cowboys star receiver Dez Bryant being punched in the face, just a few days after he was involved in a fight with a teammate during practice.

Bryant, wasn’t on the field when the main fight took place, but was spotted sprinting into the brawl from a nearby warm up field. He might be regretting that decision now.

Players reportedly took their helmets off and used them as weapons. A number of players showed red marks around their faces as well as bruises and small cuts. Eventually, the coaching staff were able to tear their players away from each other and restore order.

The two coaches decided they would not train together anymore and were seen shortly after practising on different fields within the same training complex. “We got through a day and three quarters and we had some really good work and then unfortunately things got out of hand and we shut it down,” Fisher said.

“It’s unfortunate. There’s no excuse for it. You can’t blame it on anybody. It just happened. One thing led to another. “Fortunately nobody got hurt. There’s not place for that, from the standpoint of being role models in this game and representing this game for kids. That’s not how this game goes and we’re sorry about that.”

While there were reportedly no injuries to result from the fight, the pain is only just beginning for the Cowboys, who came off second best in the scuffle according to NFL fans on Twitter.

The day wasn’t a complete loss for Bryant, however. He reportedly lost a diamond stud earing in the middle of the fight only for a security guard to find the needle in a haystack after the practice session.
