Sydney streaker steals the show before rumours emerge on social media

A rogue footy fan stole the show on Thursday night as he left the SCG’s security in his wake before vanishing into the Sydney crowd.

The SCG came to life in the fourth quarter on Thursday night as the Sydney Swans and St Kilda did battle.

But fans getting up and out of their seats and loudly cheering had nothing to do with the contest between the two sides.

On a night when the action on the field left many fans fuming as the defensive onslaught played out, one moment provided the ultimate highlight for those in attendance.

The moment of pure ecstasy for the crowd came in the form of a man streaking his way from one side of the ground to the other.

Play was brought to a standstill as the shirtless man stormed across the turf with a plethora of security guards failing in their attempts to track him down.

As the action rolled on the man made his way towards the gate with the biggest cheer of all reserved for when he jumped the fence back into the safety of the crowd and made his way up the ramp never to be seen again.

Fans in the comments section of a TikTok video posted by Kirrily Richardson — seen by more than 440,000 TikTok users — shared rumours the man was seen on public transport after the game and was not located by security staff.

It was the most excited Triple M commentator Brian Taylor was for the entire night.

“He’s going to beat them,” Taylor screamed into his microphone.

“He’s beaten them all. He’s gone from one side of the ground to the other. 15 men in black chasing after him and he’s beaten them all.”

Footy greats Kane Cornes and David King were still laughing about it when speaking on SEN Breakfast on Friday morning.

Cornes said: “Did you see this guy move? He took down 12 security guards.

“He made them look foolish. In terms of highlights last night that was hard to top in a dour affair.”

Fans at the SCG on Thursday night also saw arguably the worst free kick that has been paid this season.

Swans star Nick Blakey had just danced around Brad Crouch and was looking down the field for an open option.

He took far too long and was left a sitting duck as Saints player Dan Butler licked his lips and lined him up.

He executed a near perfect tackle, one coaches around the country from a junior level would teach, as he grabbed Blakey around the sternum before turning to the side and bringing him to the turf.

Unfortunately in this day and age, it resulted in a free kick to the Sydney player as Blakey’s head came into contact with the turf.

Blakey was ultimately subbed out of the game before the end of the third quarter.

Coach John Longmire revealed after the game Blakey did not suffer any form of head injury.
