SuperCoach studs and duds - heroes and villains of AFL Round 22

WHO starred and who stunk it up in your SuperCoach team in preliminary final weekend?

WHO starred and who stunk it up in your SuperCoach team in preliminary final weekend?

COLLINGWOOD 101 d WEST COAST 39

Collingwood studs: Lesser lights Josh Thomas (129) and Paul Seedsman (126) led the way, and those who stuck by Heath Shaw were rewarded with a 122. Plenty of coaches will be weighing up whether 114 is enough to take as a captain scores from Scott Pendlebury.

Collingwood duds: Brent Macaffer (51) and Sam Dwyer (55) are providing bench cover for lots of teams, while Alan Didak picked up 46 points after coming on at halftime.

West Coast studs: Matt Rosa has 37 disposals and 133 SuperCoach points. A 120 from Matt Priddis will make many happy, while Dean Cox gets a pass mark with an even 100.

West Coast duds: Josh Kennedy has been great all season but has finished with a whimper. He couldn't find the goals last night and scored only 60. Sharrod Wellingham's good finish came to a screaming halt with an injury-affected 39.

ADELAIDE 120 d MELBOURNE 52

Adelaide studs: Scott Thompson brought his own footy and had more than 100 SuperCoach points by halftime. He eased off a little in the second half to finish with 176. Ruckman Sam Jacobs scored 117 and Patrick Dangerfield broke the Jordie McKenzie tag to register 115.

Adelaide duds: Remember when Bernie Vince was a star SuperCoach midfielder? Today he could only manage 41 points, two less than full-back Ben Rutten.

Melbourne studs: Lynden Dunn was the surprise packet, scoring 129 - the only Demon in three figures. Jimmy Toumpas went close with a 98, his highest score of the season.

Melbourne duds: Lots of coaches will be exposed if they have a late withdrawal in the midfield, with popular bench pick Jack Viney delivering a 55, well down on his recent output.

HAWTHORN 117 d NORTH MELBOURNE 103

Hawthorn studs: With key North defenders Scott Thompson and Nathan Grima missing, it was no surprise Lance Franklin (116) and Jarryd Roughead (108) were the Hawks' two top-scorers. Cyril Rioli exploded in the third term to climb to 100.

Hawthorn duds: Liam Shiels was a late inclusion and lasted less than a quarter, subbed out with an ankle injury and just one SuperCoach point. Grant Birchall let plenty down with a 61 in his second game back from injury.

North studs: Todd Goldstein controlled the ruck to score 132 and Brent Harvey took advantage of Shiels' injury - after being tagged out of it early he ended the game with 115 points.

North duds: Lindsay Thomas just couldn't get into it, managing just 34. Drew Petrie (67) was quiet.

GEELONG 92 defeated SYDNEY 48

Cats studs: Mat Stokes (141) had the ball on a string racking up 37 disposals. Steve Johnson kicked four goals on his way to 134 points, while skipper Joel Selwood's (131) hot streak continued.

Cats duds: Tom Hawkins (26) missed three shots on goal while James Podsiadly (50) could only manage one major.

Swans studs: Jarrad McVeigh (131) did as he pleased across half back with nine rebound 50s. Ted Richards (114) was rock solid while Mike Pyke (114) kicked three goals.

Swans duds: Luckless defender Rhyce Shaw (10) was subbed out with a suspected ACL injury. Gary Rohan (39) found the going tougher in his second game back.

CARLTON 76 defeated by ESSENDON 82

Blues studs: Kade Simpson (144) was immense as Carlton tried to hang on in the dying minutes. Chris Yarran (111) played his best game for the year with 20 touches and 2.3.

Blues duds: Brock McLean (15) was subbed out in the first quarter with a leg injury. Lachie Henderson (53) was almost a non-factor in the Carlton forward line.

Bombers studs: Brendon Goddard (156) was everywhere for Essendon, amassing 27 touches and 8 marks. Paddy Ryder (127) and David Zaharakis (116) proved crucial in the dying stages.

Bombers duds: Alwyn Davey (18) was barely sighted before being subbed out. Brent Stanton (46) was completely blanketed by Ed Curnow and finished with just 12 touches

FREMANTLE 134 defeat PORT ADELAIDE 60

Dockers studs: Zac Clarke (134) excelled in the ruck for Fremantle to be the game's leading scorer. Lachie Neale (127), Nat Fyfe (122), Hayden Ballantyne (114) and Matthew Pavlich (114) all feasted on the hapless Power.

Dockers duds: Ruckman-forward Jack Hannath (33) didn't see much of the ball while Nick Suban (29) was subbed out with an injury.

Power studs: Matthew Lobbe (127) continues to produce big scores as the Power's sole ruckman while Robbie Gray (115) was the only other Port player to crack three figures.

Power duds: Jackson Trengove (20) continues to struggle to make an impact while popular defensive cover Campbell Heath (39) didn't see much of it either.

ST KILDA 116 d GOLD COAST 70

Saints studs: Nick Riewoldt (155) just pipped Leigh Montagna (154) with both posting monster scores. Eight Saints topped the ton including Tom Hickey (117), Sam Gilbert (112) and Ben McEvoy (102).

Saints duds: Not too many in this category. First-gamer Cameron Shenton was subbed off with 32 points and his replacement Tom Ledger notched 29, including a late goal.

Suns studs: Danny Stanley top-scored with 114, with Harley Bennell (106) and Dion Prestia (100) the only Suns to reach three figures.

Suns duds: Can you call a score of 90 a dud? Many were hoping for a lot more from Gary Ablett, but he ended with exactly the same score as his opponent Clinton Jones. Jaeger O'Meara (49) had a dirty day.

RICHMOND 163 d GWS 42

Tiger studs: Dustin Martin went some way to redeeming for his 25-point debacle last week with 137 points while ruckman Ivan Maric continued his strong finish to the year with a 134. But they were both topped by Aaron Edwards who booted five goals and bagged 153 SuperCoach points.

Tiger duds: Dimma, Dimma, Dimma. We know Trent Cotchin copped a kick to the shin last week, and we know you were cruising to a massive win anyway, but you better watch out for the angry SuperCoaches at the Tullamarine gates after subbing off your skipper in the third quarter, by which time he managed just 65 points.

Giants studs: Dean Brogan (111) was the only Giant to reach three figures. Taylor Adams (99) almost made it.

Giants duds: Jeremy Cameron's stats make seriously ugly reading: two kicks, 0 per cent efficiency, one free kick against - total SuperCoach points: 2.

BRISBANE LIONS 110 d WESTERN BULLDOGS 93

Lions studs: Tom Rockliff registered his eight successive 100-plus score, tallying a huge 153. Will he be eligible to select as a forward next year? Jed Adcock (123) and Matthew Leuenberger (117) both tonned up.

Lions duds: Some low scores from lesser lights such as Rohan Bewick (42) and Marco Paparone (39) but arguably Pearce Hanley was more disappointing. He rallied late to reach 80 but it was well down on what his owners were hoping for.

Bulldogs studs: Will Minson, take a bow. And all the SuperCoach players who picked him before Round 1, take one too. Minson has been huge all year but outdid himself at the Gabba, with his 154 a season-high return.

Bulldogs duds: Sub Jason Tutt would have scored a lot more than 13 if his flying shot with a minute left was on target. Robert Murphy scored one more than Hanley.
