ADELAIDE CROWS
THREE TO WATCH
Sid Draper
Boom draftee scored well against senior opposition last season, but the Crows won’t push him too hard after some summer soreness. Track his pre-season.
James Peatling
Trade recruit was the sub seven times at the Giants last season. If he slots into the midfield he’s massively underpriced.
Jordan Dawson
Trademark laser left boot deserted him at times last season but he still produced some big numbers and will play a key role in 2025 – and he’s $100k cheaper than this time 12 months ago.
BRISBANE LIONS
THREE TO WATCH
Will Ashcroft
Won the Norm Smith Medal and scored 128 SuperCoach points on grand final day. Imagine what he can do with a full pre-season.
Levi Ashcroft
Huge numbers as a junior – including 149 points in his one VFL appearance – make Will’s little brother one of the top rookie picks this year. But can he walk straight into a premiership team?
Keidean Coleman
Available at a huge discount after missing a year with an ACL. If he’s fit and taking the kick-ins for round 1 he will be very popular.
CARLTON
THREE TO WATCH
Adam Cerra
Forget last year, when he managed just 12 matches with two scores over 100. Back in 2023 he was a bona fide premium with regular scores over 120. The value is undeniable. Can we trust his body?
Sam Docherty
Also heavily discounted after an ACL cruelled his 2024. Has been a SuperCoach favourite for years but this year brings an awkward sticking point – we can only pick him in the midfield.
Jagga Smith
No.4 draft pick was a ball magnet wherever he played before being drafted, including in a handful of appearances for Richmond’s VFL team. A safe early rookie pick.
COLLINGWOOD
THREE TO WATCH
Nick Daicos
Now the centrepiece of the Magpie midfield and a points scoring machine, but he could cop some early tags and the Pies have a bye in round 3. Leaving him out to start the year could be a smart strategic move ... or a huge mistake.
Ed Allan
Daicos is pumping up the young onballer for a breakout year, declaring in December: “I think he can be an absolute superstar.” Only played twice last season but had 21 disposals and a goal in the final round. Expert more opportunities in 2025.
Dan Houston
Lured from Port Adelaide and set to assume the role of key playmaker across half-back. Will score but suspension means we won’t get a preview of how he looks in Collingwood colours until round 1.
ESSENDON
THREE TO WATCH
Zach Merrett
Don’t like stressing about your SuperCoach players? Zach is your man. He has produced season averages between 112 and 116 for five years running, and we don’t expect 2025 to be any different.
Saad El-Haawli
Mid-season draftee was poised for an AFL debut after ripping up the VFL when injury intervened. Hopefully we see him early this year.
Elijah Tsatas
Produced big numbers at under-18 level but hasn’t been able to translate that to the AFL – yet. Entering his third year (and still very cheap in SuperCoach) it’s time to make his mark.
FREMANTLE
THREE TO WATCH
Caleb Serong
Came of age last year and the trajectory is still heading up at age 24. Ranks elite for disposals and clearances and Freo has a great fixture for fantasy. Pick with confidence.
Luke Ryan
More Coverage
Noted fast starter who averaged a crazy 130 in the first half of 2024 before returning to mere mortal levels. Kick-in merchant who ranked No.2 in the AFL for effective kicks per game last season. If he starts hot again you want to be on board – but he doesn’t come cheap.
Nathan O’Driscoll
A rookie success in 2022, O’Driscoll could deliver again for SuperCoaches at a bargain price after injury restricted him to just two matches last season. Look for him to take a wing spot opposite Jeremy Sharp.
