‘So sweet’: Hot mic picks up adorable moment in AFL pre-season

A behind the scenes moment between rival players in the AFL pre-season has uncovered two players that get the idea of sportsmanship.

It won’t be like this when they meet during the 2024 AFL season, but for now rival players Patrick Lipinski and Harry Sheezel can enjoy their adorable exchange.

The pair had a classy moment in the moments before the opening bounce during the Kangaroos’ win over Collingwood in the AFL pre-season last week.

Lipinski and Sheezel were all class when they shook hands before the club’s match simulation clash at the AIA Centre.

A video shared from by the official Collingwood team’s website showed the pair aren’t ready for the hostilities to begin when the AFL season kicks off on March 7.

Lipinski began the exchange with a handshake and a simple, “Harry, how are you, mate?.”

“Well done on the flag!”

“Well done on your season, mate. Unreal!”

Sheezel, the 2023 AFL rising star winner, responded with a clap on his opponent’s shoulder.

“Good luck,” Sheezel responded.

“Well done on the flag.”

Lipinski, who kicked two goals, replied: “Oh, cheers. Well done on your season mate. Unreal.”

Lipinski and Josh Daicos were both mic’d up for the match.

The Magpies face Richmond in the AFL Community Series on Tuesday night and begin their season in the new look opening round against the Giants on March 9.

North Melbourne face the Giants in Round 1 the following week.
