Shane McAdam could be set for an early season holiday after delivering a bone-crushing hit on Jacob Wehr.

The Adelaide Crows player lined up and ran through the GWS Giants youngster in a bump that could be heard around the stadium.

As Wehr waited for the ball following a short kick in, McAdam tucked his shoulder in and ran straight through the youngster, sending his head snapping back in an ugly scene.

Wehr remained down on the turf as trainers ran out onto the ground and his teammates came in to remonstrate with officials.

The Giants player was helped from the ground to undergo a HIA test, the second GWS player in the third quarter after Lachie Whitfield was collected earlier on in the term.

Whitfield was subbed out of the game shortly before the end of the third quarter after failing his HIA.

“That’s going to be a massive talking point. That is a huge hit, I’m 50 metres away and you could hear the smack,” Cameron Mooney said on Fox Footy.

David King added: “He’s in a world of pain. That’s exactly what we’re trying to stamp out of the game.

“He’s (McAdam) going to be in a world of hurt from the match review panel.”

Wehr passed his HIA and returned to the field to begin the fourth quarter.

The brutal hit comes in the wake of Kysaiah Pickett and Lance Franklin being thrown into the spotlight for high shots on Saturday night.

But it was the hit from McAdam that left those watching on in disbelief with many labelling it a far worse shot than any that had occurred earlier in the round.

The Sunday contest turned into outright carnage for the Giants who lost Harry Perryman in the early minutes of the match with a hamstring injury.

It all went south in the third quarter with star defender Nick Haynes suffering from a groin injury before Whitfield was taken out of the contest midway through the quarter.

Things went from bad to worse to start the fourth quarter with star midfielder Josh Kelly also taken out of the game after an inadvertent head knock from Crows ruckman Reilly O’Brien.

Despite only having one player on the bench and players all over the ground battling cramps, the Giants held on to record the 16-point victory.

The Crows jumped out of the blocks in the early going but were overran by a Giants outfit that refused to die.
