Newman and Brown had been together for 20 years before officially tying the knot in November.

It was Newman’s fourth marriage, the ceremony taking place just days after Brown’s 50th birthday.

The 75-year-old farewelled his late wife at a funeral service on May 13.

“What do I miss about her? I miss everything about her,” Newman told 7News in an emotional interview.

He added Brown’s death came as an immense shock and his grief is still very raw.

“She had no illnesses or underlying health problems,” Newman said.

“Just to come home under those circumstances and find her where she was … well, I’ll just never forget that.

“The autopsy said she died from an aneurysm, a stroke. I have no idea what brought that on.

“Knowing she was dead, that is just so surreal. You just think, ‘This is not happening’.

“It seems absolutely unfair and I actually often thought I would rather it be me than her. But then she’d be probably feeling like I do.”

Newman first spoke about his wife’s death on his podcast and has now revealed he did so in the hope Brown might hear his kind words.

“Somewhere, Amanda might know I said that about her. Yeah, she might know,” he said, teary-eyed.

While the couple were together, Brown remained out of the public spotlight while Newman often copped fierce backlash for comments made on social media or his podcast.

The pair were notoriously private, rarely posing for photographs together.

Newman is a member of the Geelong Hall of Fame, having played 300 games for the club between 1964-80.

He has also had an extensive career in media, as a broadcast commentator and one of the faces of the AFL Footy Show from 1994 until 2018.

Newman said it will be difficult to adjust to life without his partner.

“I’ve never been on my own ever since I left school,” he said.

The media personality also revealed he will move out of the apartment where Brown passed away to try and move on from the tragedy.

“It’s a terrific place where I live but the memories of where you walk in — wow they’re pretty stark still — so that (moving out) will probably help ease the pain a bit more,” he said.

Asked if his wife’s death had changed his outlook on life, Newman responded: “Yeah, I’ve become a little more compassionate.

“It won’t get any worse for me. It’ll get gradually better and you’ve just got to stand up, remember who you are and push on.”
