Rumoured Gold Coast Suns logo leak sends fans into meltdown

Eagle-eyed footy fans have lost their minds after a club’s reported new look logo was uploaded online before quickly being taken down.

After the Adelaide Crows caused a stir, another AFL team has left footy fans pulling their hair out.

The Crows officially unveiled their new logo last week after it was first leaked back in September, now the Gold Coast Suns have stolen the spotlight.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot a new look logo for the Suns which appeared on an official AFL website before it was quickly taken down.

The new logo was displayed on the Play AFL website as part of a welcome pack for Auskick players.

In the new look design the club have kept the oval shape in the middle of the guernsey, but have abandoned the original GC lettering.

Instead the logo went with a big S that’s shaped in a way to make it look like a sun setting.

After it was noticed and shared online it quickly went viral with fans slamming the rumoured new look design for the club.

Journalist Mark Gottlieb wrote: “Social media is telling me this is the new GC Suns logo and I refuse to believe it. How do you make the worst logo in the AFL … worse???”

Former Suns player Dan Gorringe couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing.

“Little bit of an emergency here, we’ve got another leak with logos. The Suns up next with their rebrand,” Gorringe said on TikTok.

“Is this what they’re going with? If it is, few questions... what is it will be the main one.

“What’s that? What’s going on here? I can see the sun setting in the middle, I can see a G and a S ... what are we doing here?

“Who did this? Why did they do it? It can’t be, this leak has to be false.”

Not everyone however hated the rumoured new look with fans on board with the Suns overhaul of the logo they’ve had since joining the league.

One wrote on X: “It’s actually pretty sick, looks like the letter S & G, Also has the sunrise over the ocean while being in a shape of a footy.”

A second wrote: “Actually looks awesome, way better than any fan made version I’ve seen.”

Another added: “Definitely better than the old one, but that’s not a high bar.”

No official confirmation has been announced from the club if the leaked look will in fact be on the guernseys moving forward.
