Report claims Wayne Carey’s bag of white powder ‘will never be found’

A new photo of Wayne Carey has emerged on the night he was evicted from Crown while a police investigation remains ongoing.

Wayne Carey is reported to have disposed of the bag of white powder that fell out of his pocket at Crown.

According to The Herald Sun, the 51-year-old was evicted from Crown Burswood earlier this month after a zip-lock bag containing a white substance dropped from his pocket onto a gaming room table.

Carey, an expert football TV analyst, was staying in Perth ahead of an elimination final between Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs.

He immediately stood down from his media duties for Channel 7 and Triple M Footy. Triple M has since announced it has cut ties with the commentator and Seven is reportedly set to follow suit.

The dual-premiership North Melbourne captain said the powder was “crushed up anti-inflammatories” used to treat football injuries.

Carey maintains he offered to hand the bag to staff after dropping it at a gaming table.

An investigation from WA Police is ongoing.

Police were not called at the time and the substance was not seized.

The Daily Mail now reports Carey has disposed of the bag. The report claims the bag “will never be found”.

The report also reveals a new photo of Carey at the Perth venue, reported to have been taken on the same night he was evicted. The photo shows Carey sitting with three other men at the Lobby Lounge outside Crown Perth’s Metropol Hotel.

Carey said earlier this month: “It was not an illegal substance, it was offered to security. Security didn’t take it.

“They just said it’s not a great look, I understood that, and we left without incident.”

He fronted the press in Wagga Wagga this month and said: “On two occasions they had an opportunity to call police. If what was alleged had happened then police should have been called straight away.

“They had another opportunity when I went up to my room to call police and they never called the police.

“I want to know why because if they had called the police I wouldn’t be standing here talking to you about this. If it had occurred the police would have been called.”

Carey has since retained Josh Bornstein of Maurice Blackburn lawyers and will investigate whether a claim can be made against the casino.

He has indicated he is looking at making a disability discrimination claim against Crown, saying the white powder was “crushed up anti-inflammatories” used to treat debilitating football injuries.

Meanwhile, Seven has now reportedly come to a final decision in electing not to extend Carey’s contract into the 2023 season.

TV Blackbox reports Carey’s contract with the network expires at the end of the AFL season and will not be renewed.

The report claims Seven is waiting until the conclusion of the ongoing police investigation, but has privately made a decision to move on from the highly-regarded football analyst.

Carey has been stood down from Seven’s AFL coverage following the opening week of the finals after it first emerged he had been banned from all Crown venues.

It has already been confirmed he will not be involved in Seven’s AFL grand final day coverage and as a result has already finished with the network.
