MILD-mannered Lion Jack Redden has taken a sledgehammer to the Gold Coast Suns over their promotion of Saturday's Queensland derby.

"The kids can do their finger paintings and the men will play footy this weekend," the midfielder said in response to a Suns' Q Clash advertising campaign featuring suspended Lion Daniel Rich, complete with mock graffiti.

In a playful dig, the Suns' billboard depicts Rich with horns, beard and glasses, and "I love GC" across his biceps. Rich was unfazed by the attention, coming on the same day he accepted a two-game rough conduct ban for his shove on St Kilda's Clinton Jones at the Gabba on Saturday night. But Redden declared the taunt "gives us more determination to knock them off on their home deck".

Beating the Suns may not be as simple as it was in round 4 at the Gabba. Redden insists the Lions must take their "A game" to Carrara's Metricon Stadium.

"They've come off a good win. They'll be on a high," he said of the Coast's dramatic win against Richmond in Cairns.

"We couldn't sustain our game plan for four quarters against St Kilda. You can't afford to have lapses like that."

The Coast yesterday was handed an extra shot of confidence by Josh Caddy's round 16 NAB Rising Star nomination.

The 19-year-old midfielder, a first-round draft pick, had a tough initiation to AFL football last season. Foot and groin injuries meant Caddy did not make his debut until round 23.

But his determination and skill have paid off. He is averaging more than 16 disposals, with a peak of 27 touches in round 8 against the Western Bulldogs.
