‘Ratbags’: Fallen AFL agent Ricky Nixon’s sledge to media as he fights speeding charge
Fallen AFL agent Ricky Nixon has taken umbrage at the media in a Victorian court as he flags he will fight a new allegation.
Former AFL player agent Ricky Nixon is planning to fight allegations he was caught speeding in an 80km/h zone.
Mr Nixon appeared via audiovisual link in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday and told judicial registrar Michael Gurvich that he would plead not guilty to the sole charge.
The 58-year-old was allegedly speeding at between 10km/h and 25km/h above the legal limit in an 80km/h zone.
Mr Nixon was asked whether he would contest the media application to access documents relating to the alleged incident.
“Denied from my end,” he told the court.
“They’re (media) ratbags.”
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, branding the prosecution’s submission that he was allegedly speeding as “completely incorrect”.
“I can tell you what happened if you’d like to hear it,” Mr Nixon told the court.
When asked when he would be available for a contest mention, Mr Nixon said he was busy until September because he was running his “mobile” health business seven days a week “which had been inundated during Covid.”
In October last year Mr Nixon told a court that he had “probably” racked up 50 parking fines after running what he described as a “Covid” ambulance in Port Melbourne.
He was charged in relation to three of them to which he pleaded guilty.
Mr Nixon’s latest matter will return to court in September for a contest mention.
