Noah Anderson signs a contract extension with the Gold Coast Suns
The Gold Coast Suns’ hopes of becoming an AFL premiership force have been boosted by the long-term retention of a star in the making.
Emerging star Noah Anderson will remain on the Gold Coast at least until the end of 2027 after signing a four-year contract extension with the Suns.
The 21-year-old midfielder – the number two pick in the 2019 AFL national draft who was already contracted until the end of the upcoming season – had a breakout 2022 season, averaging 26.1 disposals per game, earning 14 Brownlow Medal votes and finishing runner-up in the Suns’ club champion race.
“Gold Coast has felt like home since I was drafted and the playing group continues to drive me forward as a player and a person,” said Anderson, the son of Hawthorn two-time premiership player Dean Anderson.
“I feel at home and this is the best place for me to play footy.
“We want to play finals. That’s a big goal for us this year and the years ahead. Premierships are what we want and to make the community proud of us.
“We have great role models at the club and I’m still learning from them, and then trying to part that knowledge on to the younger boys coming through.
“I feel like I can have an impact on the team on and off the field, and I’m excited for what the next few years has to bring.”
Suns general manager of player talent and strategy Craig Cameron said Anderson’s decision to extend his stay on the Gold Coast was “a further example of the hunger for success within the playing group”.
“We are thrilled to have Noah commit to the club for four more years,” Cameron said.
“He joins a number of players to have committed their long term future to the club as we look to contend and achieve success at the Gold Coast Suns.”
