Mick Malthouse says David Cloke is not the right man to manage Travis Cloke's playing career
FORMER Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse says David Cloke is not the right person to manage his son's playing career.
FORMER Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse says David Cloke is not the right person to manage his son's playing career.
Collingwood forward Travis Cloke, who is out of contract at the end of 2012, is in protracted talks with the Pies over a four or five year deal
Malthouse, who coached Cloke in the 2010 premiership side, said father-son management was not in player's best interest.
"Fathers have got a place to play. They are clearly proud and they want to give the best instructions and foresight as you possibly can but keep away from the other side of things,'' Malthouse said on Channel Seven's Game Day.
"David has been involved clearly with (sons) Jason and Cameron and now Trav of course, and I don't think it works quite frankly."
"I know the club (is) finding it very difficult,'' Malthouse said.
