MELBOURNE captain Nathan Jones has won his third straight Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Trophy, emulating a feat only previously achieved by Melbourne great Jim Stynes.

Jones took out the award on a night that underlined the changing face of the Demons list, beating ex-GWS midfielder Dom Tyson and third-placed Bernie Vince.

ROOS: FRAWLEY NEEDS TO LET US KNOW

It came as the Demons last night announced chief executive Peter Jackson had committed to the club for at least another season.

Jackson signed another deal on Thursday and while he is searching for a long-term successor he has not ruled out going past 2015.

Jones, 26, was in his first full season as a Melbourne co-captain and is just one Bluey Truscott Trophy win off the record of four-time winners Allan La Fontaine and Stynes.

Stynes won his first best-and-fairest in 1991 then three straight from 1995-1997, with Jones a beacon of hope in another trying year for Melbourne.

Key defender Lynden Dunn was fourth and tagger Daniel Cross fifth, with free agent James Frawley eighth and Jack Watts tenth.

Frawley attended the night despite his uncertain future, with Geelong in the box seat to secure the unrestricted free agent’s services.

The future of Watts is also uncertain given he is one of the few players with currency on a list where coach Paul Roos says everyone is tradeable.

Jones had his best season to date, notching best-ever figures in disposals (610) and clearances (137), averaging 28 disposals per match.

Melbourne might have only won four games but at least both coach Paul Roos and Jackson have now committed to being in charge in the short-term future.

Demons president Glenn Bartlett said yesterday the Demons were thrilled Jackson would continue in a role he took over in May 2013 with the club at rock bottom.

“Peter Jackson has done an outstanding job in the role of CEO of the club and the board is delighted that he will be continuing on in the role,” he said.

“Some important foundations have been laid for our club in the past 18 months and having Peter’s experience and leadership to take us through the next phase of our development is a great result for the club.”

The Demons have a submission in to the AFL asking for a special assistant package that could include priority picks or a selection that the club would immediately trade.

The club has made three list changes so far, with Shannon Byrnes retiring and Daniel Nicholson and Mitch Clisby delisted.

But it is understood Luke Tapscott, Sam Blease and James Strauss are just some of the names who will be offered for trade.
