Melbourne players keep on trucking by jumping in huge fridge in sweltering conditions

MELBOURNE players found a new way to beat the heat, climbing inside a refrigerated trailer in between drills.

MELBOURNE players found a new way to beat the heat at training on Friday morning, climbing inside a refrigerated trailer in between drills.

The Demons sweated it out at Casey Fields, but did find some relief with sponsor AHG dropping off the trailer - which was welcomed by the players as they sought refuge from the sweltering conditions.

Among those to impress throughout the two-hour session was Jack Watts, the former No.1 draft pick looking forward to a likely move to the midfield in 2014.

"I guess my strength's getting the ball and using the ball," Watts said after training.

"If I can get it (the ball) a bit more each game and keep using it, help my teammates out, you know put them in good spots, then that'll hopefully give us some scoring opportunities."

It was a lively session for the Dees, although several of their bigger-name players didn't take part with the main group as they continue their comeback from injury.

Former Crow Bernie Vince, Chris Dawes and Mitch Clark are yet to resume full work, while young forward Jesse Hogan - who injured a knee last week - was also absent from the track.

Melbourne first pre-season match is on Friday February 14 against Richmond at Etihad Stadium.
