MELBOURNE champion David Schwarz has been rocked by a death threat after controversial comments about the Demons.

Schwarz said he received a threatening phone call shortly after he finished his drive-time show on radio station SEN on Friday night.

It "concerned" him enough to immediately report the threat to Bellarine police.

"I was pretty annoyed and pretty upset with it," he said. "It's not nice."

Leading Sen-Constable Laurie Taylor, of Bellarine police, said an investigation was under way.

On Thursday Schwarz said he hoped his Demons would be "walloped" by Collingwood to force the board to swing the axe on coach Mark Neeld.

He was prepared for a backlash.

"In this caper you learn to have a thick skin but when people threaten you it's time to stand up. I'm not one to back down from it and nor should anyone else," Schwarz said.
