JACK Watts had a nightmare start to Melbourne’s clash against North Melbourne at the MCG, costing the Demons a goal early in the opening term.

Many embarrassing things can happen on a football field, in front of thousands of fans at the ground and thousands watching on TV.

But there’s nothing more embarrassing than shanking a kick-in from full back.

That’s exactly what happened to Watts.

Taking the kick-in from a North Melbourne behind, Watts shanked his kick, which was then smothered by Robin Nahas who gathered, baulked a poor defensive effort from the Melbourne utility and kicked the easiest of goals.

Watts was coming off one of his best games last week in the win over Collingwood but had nowhere to hide after the embarrassing moment.

It was a monumental error from the former No. 1 draft pick in a diabolical start from the Demons against the Kangaroos before clawing their way back in the second term.
