MELBOURNE’S missing 1948 VFL flag has finally been found — over the border in New South Wales.

The missing piece of footy history appeared on eBay this week with a reserve price of $80,000.

Police were notified and began to investigate after the Demons confirmed the flag was missing.

Their investigation led them to a home in Moama on the Murray River, where a search warrant was executed last night.

The flag was seized and is expected to be returned to the Demons soon.

No arrests have been made but NSW Police are continuing to investigate, calling for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
