AFL and TV personalities inspired by campaigner Neale Daniher have put their pride aside to Freeze MND at the ‘G, raising more than $2.79 million so far. See photos and video.

CELEBRITIES including Eddie McGuire, Kevin Sheedy and Samantha Armytage took an icy plunge in front of a blockbuster MCG crowd in a bid to freeze MND.

Dressed as Disney characters and sporting heroes and inspired by campaigner Neale Daniher, the 11 football and TV personalities put their pride aside to raise funds for motor neurone disease. Last year’s Big Freeze at the ‘G on Queen’s Birthday raised more than $2.5 million. According to freezeMND.com, more than $2.9 million had flowed in this year as of midnight. Health Minister Sussan Ley said the Federal Government would match dollar-for-dollar the amount raised today. Daniher said that incredible outpouring of support had helped researchers find a breakthrough in the search for a cure. The icy challenge is the brainchild of former AFL player and coach Daniher, diagnosed with MND in 2013. Matthew Richardson, Matthew Lloyd, David Koch, Jonathan Brown, Anthony Lehmann, Cameron Ling, Gerard Whateley and Dave Hughes, took the Big Freeze 2 challenge alongside McGuire, Sheedy and Armytage.
