MIDFIELDER Bernie Vince claimed a personal double when he won Melbourne’s best and fairest award on Friday night.

It’s his second AFL club triumph, adding to his best and fairest with Adelaide in 2009.

He’s only the 19th player to earn the coveted honour at more than one AFL club.

Vince had an outstanding season, including three matches where he won 38 possessions. He also had 30 disposals and kicked three goals against Collingwood in round 18.

Vince polled 328 votes to pip young Jack Viney by just one vote in the count at Crown last night.

Viney’s second place finish was remarkable, considering he missed six rounds with a fractured leg.

Key defender Tom McDonald was rewarded for his consistency to finish third with 300 votes.

Gun forward Jesse Hogan, crowned the AFL Rising Star this week, capped a stellar debut season to finish fourth.

Skipper Nathan Jones, in line to become the first Melbourne player to win four consecutive best and fairest awards, rounded out the top five.

The Demons’ emerging talent shone in the count with Angus Brayshaw, fifth in the Rising Star, missing a place in the top 10 by just two votes.
