Recap all the action from Sunday’s Round 12 AFL matches between Brisbane and Essendon, Fremantle and Adelaide

FREMANTLE forward Michael Walters was reported for a headbutt but faces more scrutiny for punching an opponent after a moment of madness in the Dockers’ win over Adelaide.

FREMANTLE held on for a shock three-point win over Adelaide despite a moment of madness from star forward Michael Walters in the dying minutes.

Walters will face match review scrutiny after punching Adelaide’s Jake Kelly in the stomach with the game still up for grabs at Perth Stadium. FREEFALL: CROWS’ SEASON ON LIFE SUPPORT STANDING TALL: DONS WIN UGLY AGAINST LIONS The Dockers were nine points ahead with just over two minutes remaining and the ball inside their attacking 50m before Walters gave away a free kick when he struck Kelly. He was immediately reported for headbutting Tom Doedee which resulted in a 50m penalty. Dockers coach Ross Lyon responded by dragging his player from the field. “It wasn’t the action we wanted, Michael would have known that, we had Lachie Neale with five minutes on the bench … so it was opportune to do that,” Lyon said after the game. “Michael knows he just didn’t regulate himself as well as he should have at that moment, but for the most part he does. “We like them to be a bit fiery, but at the right time be fiery.” The AFL vowed to get tough on punches with suspensions and heavier fines before the season started after a number of incidents last season. Fremantle could lose Walters for one match if his punch is assessed as intentional conduct with medium impact to the body. A high impact assessment will trigger a two-match ban. He will escape with a fine if the offence is graded as low impact. The Dockers will regain Nat Fyfe from suspension for Saturday’s clash against Fremantle at Etihad Stadium but will likely be without Alex Pearce, who broke his thumb during the second quarter. Youngster Taylin Duman was forced to withdraw from Sunday’s match in unusual circumstances after injuring his back while getting out of his car.
