Lions star Jack Redden says Kurt Tippett may as well stay in Brisbane after shock loss

BRISBANE star Jack Redden says Kurt Tippett might consider joining the Lions to avoid the mauling he copped in Adelaide's shock 10-point loss.

BRISBANE star Jack Redden says out-of-contract Crows spearhead Kurt Tippett might consider joining the Lions to avoid the mauling he copped in Adelaide's shock 10-point loss at the Gabba on Saturday night.

Tippett is being courted by the Crows, Lions and Suns but received a less than hospitable welcome from Brisbane fullback Daniel Merrett who kept the Queenslander to seven possessions, three marks and one behind in his comeback from concussion.

It was an unhappy night in general for the finals-bound Crows who surrendered a 38-point quarter-time lead to the 13th-placed Lions with Redden leading the way for the home side with 30 disposals, nine tackles, seven clearances and five inside 50s.

Redden said he would love to see Tippett at the Gabba on a full-time basis.

"If Kurt Tippett wants to come up here it would be pretty handy. He probably wants to come up after last night. Rodge (Merrett) gave him a fair bath," he said.

"He's a great player, he'd be handy in any side."

Before Brisbane can have a crack at Tippett in trade week, the Lions are focussed on beating Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs in the last two rounds to give the club momentum into 2013 when Michael Voss' men hope to challenge for a top eight berth.

Victories over the West Coast and Adelaide have showcased Brisbane's best qualities but Redden said that top shelf footy had to be produced more often with the club's young core taking pressure off "old fossils" like skipper Jonathan Brown and Simon Black.

"It's important we finish strong and go to the line which we did last night. We have to bring our A game though, if we bring our B game against those sides they'll roll us," Redden said.

"We've shown that we are capable of beating those top four sides. The talent is there just need to be more consistent and hopefully we can build on that."
