BRISBANE coach Michael Voss says the Lions are expecting a "red-hot" reception from the Suns in Queensland derby at Metricon Stadium tomorrow.

BRISBANE coach Michael Voss says the Lions are expecting a "red-hot" reception from the Suns in Queensland derby at Metricon Stadium tomorrow.

The stoush for Queensland bragging rights will be played at the re-developed Carrara for the first time and Voss says the Gold Coast will be full of confidence after beating Richmond last weekend.

"We are expecting the Gold Coast to be red-hot. They will want to put on a good show on the back of what they did last week," Voss said.

"We understand they will bring a lot of pressure but we have to make sure that our pressure is better."

Voss said the Suns would be fielding their strongest possible midfield with the likes of Gary Ablett, David Swallow, Harley Bennell, Karmichael Hunt and Michael Rischitelli so Brisbane needed to get first use of the Sherrin to dictate terms.

"They've pretty much got their midfield group at full-strength so for us its about being able to get numbers around the ball and giving our forward line some good looks," he said.

While there was a "spring in the step" of Lions players this week as they aim for a third-straight win in Queensland derby games, Voss said Brisbane had been very measured in the build-up to the battle with little brother.

"We should be encouraged by the form we are in. Even in the games we have lost, we have had some very good patches," he said.

"It's about replicating the effort from week to week and not riding the emotional rollercoaster. It's about being professional and managing the week so you get the best possible performance, regardless of who you are playing."

The Suns trained this morning while the Lions will finalise preparations at the Gabba tonight.
