Karmichael Hunt, Michael Rischitelli and Zac Smith join Gold Coast Suns injury list

KARMICHAEL Hunt, Michael Rischitelli and Zac Smith are set to become the latest additions to the bulging casualty ward at the injury-ravaged Gold Coast.

KARMICHAEL Hunt, Michael Rischitelli and Zac Smith are set to become the latest additions to the bulging casualty ward at the injury-ravaged Gold Coast.

Six players from last Sunday's day of carnage at the MCG are set to be sidelined because of injury for Saturday's wooden spoon showdown with GWS at Metricon Stadium.

Hunt (pictured, shoulder), Rischitelli (knee), Smith (ankle) and Luke Russell (shoulder) are likely to be ruled out of the clash with the Giants along with Dion Prestia (hamstring, two to four weeks) and Sam Day (foot, three to four weeks).

Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft said it was the heaviest injury toll from a single game in the club's short history.

In some rare good news on the injury front, David Swallow (knee), Danny Stanley (hamstring) and Joel Wilkinson (ankle) are set to be passed fit.

GWS will be without at least three players, including co-captain Callan Ward (osteitis pubis) and No.1 draft pick Jonathon Patton (shoulder).

The Suns would not be using the injury crisis as an excuse against GWS.

"It is compounded by the fact that it is towards the end of the year and we've already got a few guys out injured," he said.

Ward is set to miss at least the next two weeks, while Patton and young midfielder Toby Greene (groin) will miss the Suns game.

If the Gold Coast loses to GWS, it will be assured of a second wooden spoon in two years.
