SUNS defender Jeremy Taylor has pleaded for the job on excitement machines Eddie Betts or Jeff Garlett.

Taylor wants the job to prove his versatility against the Blues on Saturday night.

Betts and Garlett sit one-two on Carlton's goal-kicking list this season, with the small forwards combining to kick 72 majors between them in 2012.

The task would be a daunting one for most defenders yet alone the 191cm Taylor, who has been in and out of the Suns squad all season.

But the 20-year-old wants the chance to prove he can stop all types of forwards.

"It would be a good opportunity to show I can not only play on the talls but smalls as well," Taylor said.

"I love playing on those running players and playing that negative role.

"If we can stop those two players it would go a long way to winning the game."

While many of the club's youngsters are looking for the finishing line this season, Taylor is the complete opposite.

With just seven AFL matches under his belt this season, the Geelong-product doesn't want the season to end.

"I would be happy to keep playing for another five to eight weeks," Taylor said.

"I have two more years on my contract but every game you take it as an opportunity to go out there and play the best footy you can.

"Last year was especially frustrating getting through the whole pre-season and then only putting two games together.

"This year I've played most games in the NEAFL and I need to get that consistency in my game."

The Blues make the trip north with the added incentive of a possible top-eight berth if they win this weekend but Taylor said the Suns had their own points to prove.

"We have a lot to play for and we've showed in patches we can play this year," he said.

"I think these last two games are important to show how much growth we've made this season."

The Suns trained under-lights for the first time last night ahead of the night clash against the Blues at Metricon Stadium.
