The best and longest mullet in AFL football is no more.

St Kilda star and dual All-Australian defender Jack Sinclair took the clippers to his flowing locks just days after securing back-to-back best and fairest awards.

Sinclair went the chop to raise money for the Danny Frawley Centre, a state-of-the-art mental and physical health facility at the club’s Moorabbin base, named after the St Kilda captain and legend, with a target of $20,000 nearly reached.

Sinclair been growing his hair since the 2020 season and had become one of the most easily identifiable AFL players because of it.

“October is Mental Health Month and to raise some much-needed funds for the programs at the Danny Frawley Centre, I’m parting ways with my mullet,” Sinclair said

“The DFC provides life-changing support to our community, so give generously as we say goodbye to the mullet for a great cause.”

Sinclair’s mullet had become iconic as the 28-year-old elevated himself to one of the best players in the game.

He earnt his second All-Australian blazer this season, finished equal-ninth alongside All-Australian captain Toby Greene in the AFL Coaches’ Association Champion Player of the Year Award and finished just shy of the top 10 in the Brownlow Medal count with 21 votes.

“I didn’t want to have just one good year and be satisfied with that,” he said.

“To have a couple is pleasing, but I’m not satisfied with that.”
