GOLD Coast has punted superboot Trent McKenzie from this week's clash with flag favourite Hawthorn for missing last weekend's recovery session.

McKenzie was a late comer at Kurrawa Beach the morning after the Gold Coast's 30-point victory over GWS at Metricon Stadium last Saturday night and was made unavailable for selection after breaching the players' code of conduct.

The club-imposed ban on McKenzie is one of five changes made to the Gold Coast side for this Sunday's showdown with the Hawks at the MCG with Aaron Hall (ankle), Jackson Allen (groin), David Swallow (knee) and Liam Patrick (knee) also missing from the side that beat the Giants.

Alik Magin, Tom Hickey, Andrew McQualter, Josh Toy, Tom Nicholls and rookie duo Piers Flanagan and Henry Schade have been added to an extended 25-man squad which will be culled tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Brisbane has made two changes ahead of Saturday night's match-up with Adelaide at the Gabba.

Todd Banfield and Steve Wrigley have dropped out of the squad and been replaced by Matt Maguire and Jack Crisp.
