Geelong defender David Wojcinski ready for AFL return
GEELONG could be boosted by the return of four stars against Carlton, including dashing defender David Wojcinski.
GEELONG could be boosted by the return of four senior players for Friday night's showdown against Carlton, including dashing defender David Wojcinski.
Cats coach Chris Scott said today he was confident Joel Corey and Steven Motlop would both overcome shoulder injuries for the Blues game.
Key forward Tom Hawkins, who had minor surgery on his knee more than a week ago, is also a strong chance to come back in.
Hawkins, who yesterday announced he had re-signed with the Cats for another three years, joined a small group of players on the training track at Simonds Stadium this morning in a further sign he was a chance to return this week.

Scott said Corey Enright, who sat out the Giants clash with a foot injury, remained in some doubt, as does Allen Christensen, who would need to be monitored throughout the week after being concussed on the VFL.
But he said speedster David Wojcinski, who has served his VFL suspension, was a chance to come straight back into the senior team as the Cats look to contain Carlton's quick forwards.
"He would add to the group of players we could have to cover them,'' Scott said.
"But if he plays, there's no guarantee he would even play in defence, but he would certainly help our overall speed.''
Wojcinski is yet to play a senior match this year and has been stranded on 199 career matches by an achilles tendon injury and a three-week ban from the VFL tribunal for incidents involving Melbourne teenager Jack Viney.
Scott said while the Blues had struggled for form in recent weeks, the Cats would prepare to face them at the sort of standard that made Carlton premiership favourites earlier in the season.
"They were exceptional in the first part of the year, the first six games, and not as good the last three or four weeks,'' Scott said.
"But we're preparing for them to be at their best.
"It looks like they've got a few good players that potentially could come back.
"So we'll be expecting them to come in and play well and know that we've got a real fight on our hands.''
