FREE agent James Frawley is considering a five-year contract worth $3 million to join Fremantle from next season.

And in a frantic bid to bolster their big man stocks the Dockers have entered discussions with disgruntled Carlton forward Jarrad Waite.

LATEST MOVES, WHISPERS: DEPARTMENT OF TRADE

Frawley, 26, next week, is considering a deal worth $600,000 a season from next year if he takes Fremantle’s offer and walks out on Melbourne as an unrestricted free agent.

It is understood that Geelong has offered Frawley in the region of $500,000 a season over five years.

Fremantle could have won Frawley’s commitment if a request from his management for a seven-year deal was agreed.

Dockers officials are believed to have ruled out such a lengthy contract to a player about to turn 26.

The 2010 all-Australian defender and Demons fairest-and-best runner-up has become a top priority Dockers signing after Fremantle were dumped from this month’s finals series in successive losses to Sydney and Port Adelaide.

He held formal discussions with Fremantle officials and visited Dockers home base at Fremantle Oval last weekend.

Waite, 31, is also a free agent understood to have now also held discussions with Dockers management and will become an even higher priority recruit if Frawley does not head west.

Waite and Frawley are unrestricted free agents and can move to any club of their choice regardless of counter offers from the Demons or Blues.

Waite and his management have apparently been offered just a one-year extension offer from Carlton, while North Melbourne has made a similar overture with an option of a second-season depending on his 2015 performances.

Waite, who has played 184 senior games with the Blues since his debut in 2003, is only willing to join the Dockers and shift from his home state of Victoria on a two-year deal.

Dockers coach Ross Lyon made clear his intentions to recruit in ready-made and experienced personnel immediately after the 22-point semi-final loss to Port.

The hard-nosed Dockers boss declared plans to follow a list formation model established by competition heavyweights Sydney with an aggressive recruiting priority of traded players and free agents.

Fremantle’s aggression in attempts to lure ready-made key position talent in Frawley and Waite further heightens expectations that veteran defender Luke McPharlin will retire.

His departure will also free up significant room in the Dockers salary cap in negotiations to win signatures from Frawley or Waite.

Another casualty in attempts to lure Frawley and Waite on lucrative packages could be popular utility Matt deBoer.

DeBoer, 24, has been linked with a switch to Carlton.

He has only been offered a one-year extension at Fremantle on a reduced salary for next season.
