Footballer Moana Hope and wife announce baby news
Former AFLW star Moana Hope and her model wife have announced there is a big twist to the exciting baby news they’ve announced.
Former AFLW star Moana Hope has announced she is pregnant.
The 33-year-old shared her joy with fans on Instagram as she and model wife Isabella Carlstrom showed off an ultrasound photo of their second child together.
The couple celebrated the birth of their first child, daughter Svea Hope Carlstrom, in November, 2020, and publicly declared their intent to raise a second child together just a few months later.
The Swedish model and Hope, one of the first headline stars from the start of the AFLW league in 2016, announced in March they wanted to switch roles with their second pregnancy after Carlstrom gave birth to Svea last year.
Hope’s Instagram post suggests she is the one who has fallen pregnant this time.
“I’m pregnant … we’re pregnant,” she posted to Instagram on Wednesday evening.
“2022 our little modern family will grow by one tiny human. Building our own little football team.
“We are using the same donor as Svea and we are all beyond excited. Not even the morning sickness can damper this mood.”
Television personality Angie Kent commented: “This is the BEST news!!!! Congrats to you and your beautiful family!”
Channel 10 presenter Lisa Wilkinson replied: “The most beautiful news! So INCREDIBLY happy for you all. Lots of love.”
Victorian-based Monash IVF posted: “Our biggest congratulations! We are so honoured to have been part of your journey.”
Their happy news was celebrated with a series of photos together with Svea and Hope’s sister Lavinia.
Hope earlier this year said the couple have spoken about having three children.
She joked to Woman’s Day in March: “I want a houseful of babies” she said. “But we’re aiming for three at the moment.
“I was able to pull Svea out and put her onto Bell’s chest and in that moment I felt an overwhelming sense of love and protection that I’ve never felt before.”
The couple revealed Carlstrom’s labour lasted 14 hours in an interview with Stellar magazine earlier this year.
The 28-year-old’s blood pressure plummeted and doctors rushed to stabilise it. From that point she struggled with fatigue and lethargy and during her six-week check-up, doctors discovered she still had 5cm of retained placenta.
“They had to do an emergency operation,” Hope recalled. “Now with more tests, we’ve found that Bell has hardly any iron (so) we’re doing iron transfusions to hopefully get her back to feeling healthy and happy.”
It’s been two years since Hope’s last AFLW game with North Melbourne, and she’s now running a traffic management business.
They tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in August 2019.
