LUKE Breust, Jack Gunston and Paul Puopolo combined kicked four goals each to help Hawthorn breeze past a hapless Essendon side at Etihad Stadium.

After Joe Daniher kicked his second goal to give the Bombers an early lead, it was all the Hawks and as they ran out 108-point winners.

They have six multiple goal kickers, with Cyril Rioli kicking three and Kade Stewart and Tim O’Brien two each.

Essendon won enough of the football, but struggled to translate possession into inside 50s and made too many errors.

Jordan Lewis was the leading possession winner on the ground with 36, while Bomber Zach Merrett worked hard for his 33.

Brendon Goddard looks untroubled after suffering a broken nose in the opening minutes of the first term.
