Defender Josh Drummond says Brisbane keen to avoid letdown against Melbourne

SUPERBOOT Josh Drummond says the Lions will not suffer any emotional letdown this week from their stirring win over the Dogs.

BRISBANE superboot Josh Drummond says the Lions will not suffer any emotional letdown from last weekend's stirring win over the Western Bulldogs when they take on Melbourne at the Gabba this Sunday.

A pumped-up Brisbane belted the Dogs by 58-points at Etihad Stadium before attending the club's inaugural Hall of Fame dinner at Melbourne's Crown Casino.

Drummond said the Lions had kept the pedal to the metal at training this week with Brisbane desperately searching for its sixth win of 2012.

"We haven't had momentum for a few years so if you can get a bit of momentum in this game, you've got to run with it,'' Drummond said.

"I think there is always that risk (of a letdown). That's the challenge for our group, that's the challenge we are faced with this week.

"But you can tell just the way the boys have attacked training the last couple of days and attacked their recovery, there's been no change from last week.

"There's been no let down at all and I think we are just hungry to continue the momentum.''

Brisbane is set to miss fullback Matt Maguire who is in doubt with a left elbow injury.

The loss of Maguire is softened by the fact that his likely direct opponent - Demons spearhead Mitch Clark - will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.

Drummond said Melbourne's recent good form was another factor ensuring no complacency crept into the Gabba.

"They are building towards something and so are we so it's important we start well,'' he said.
