Danny Frawley would have loved Swan’s incredible double-fisted mark

You can almost hear Danny Frawley calling “BANG!” down from heaven while watching this incredible play from Sydney’s Lewis Melican.

Late AFL great would have loved incredible play

Danny Frawley would have loved it.

The late St Kilda great championed the cause of AFL defenders with his Golden Fist Award on Fox Footy’s Bounce program, highlighting the best spoils delivered by backmen every Sunday night.

But he had a particular passion for the double-fisted spoil — a move forwards will argue should be an attempted mark if you can get two hands to the ball but Spud loved anyway.

This effort by Swans youngster Lewis Melican went a step further.

Expertly reading an inside 50m kick by Carlton captain Patrick Cripps, Melican led his man to the ball and despite being in a fair bit of space opted to meet the footy with both fists clenched instead of taking an uncontested mark.

Or perhaps sending the ball looping upwards high enough for him to run under and grab was all part of the plan.

You can almost hear Frawley, who tragically died a year ago on Wednesday, calling “BANG!” down from heaven.
