SANFL officials want to close AAMI Stadium next year the same way the ground started its AFL story - with Adelaide hosting Hawthorn.

The request, put to the AFL, has been endorsed by the Adelaide Football Club but is not high on the Crows' list of requests to the league for next year's fixture.

The Crows' first AFL premiership match was on March 22, 1991 with Adelaide beating Hawthorn by 86 points with 44,902 attending.

AAMI Stadium will close its AFL journey next year. SA's two AFL-based clubs will move to the new 50,000-seat Adelaide Oval in 2014.

The AFL expects to reveal its premiership draw by the end of October.
