Delisting season is in full effect, and as clubs around the league announce their various list changes, one cult Collingwood player has jumped ahead of the curve and broken the news of his own delisting.

Popular midfielder Trey Ruscoe took to Instagram to reveal the news he had been cut by the Pies.

“Wow what a journey it has been,” Ruscoe wrote.

“I’ve met some amazing people along the way that I am just so thankful for and I’m just so happy that I got the opportunity to play at such a great club.

“The friendships I have made will be forever lasting and I will miss everyone from the club so much. Everyone has played a massive part in my career and I have learnt many lessons on the way which I am so thankful for.

“To the Collingwood faithful fans you have been awesome and I couldn’t have done it without your support the whole way through.

“Thank you Collingwood Football Club.”

Ruscoe was drafted to Collingwood as the 55th pick in the 2019 draft, the club’s final selection behind Jay Rantall and Trent Bianco.

He made his debut in Round 10 of that year against Sydney, and would go on to play 17 more games for the club, scoring seven goals.

In his final year for the club, Ruscoe played one game on Anzac Day, racking up 11 touches at the MCG.

His former teammates were filled with emotion as they paid tribute to their mate.

Vice-captain Taylor Adams described him as the “heart and soul” of the side, while Nick Daicos, John Noble, Brody Mihocek and Isaac Quaynor all left their well-wishes, among others.

Ruscoe hailed from Booragoon Junior Football Club, in the eastern suburbs of Fremantle, before a season with the East Fremantle WAFL Colts where he averaged 20 touches in his draft year.
