Collingwood have pulled off another insane comeback to beat Adelaide 8.11 (59) to 7.16 (58) in a one-point thriller to move to the top of the AFL ladder.

The Crows dominated the first quarter and led for almost the entire game, just not the final 20 seconds that mattered.

The Magpies were held goalless in the opening term for the first time this year and trailed by 16 points at three quarter time, but they kicked three goals in the last quarter to pull off an insane win.

Defender John Noble kicked a superb running goal to bring the Magpies within a point.

Collingwood’s Ash Johnson levelled the scores at 58-58 when he cleverly rushed through a behind to force the Crows to go for broke.

But the Magpies’ midfield got the ball back and it found Steele Sidebottom in the forward pocket.

Sidebottom missed the goal but the behind was all Collingwood needed to take a one-point lead and hit the front for the first time in the game with 20 seconds remaining.

“It’s another Collingwood miracle and we shouldn’t be surprised,” Fox Footy’s Anthony Hudson said.

The Crows only had themselves to blame with their inaccurate goalkicking (15 behinds).

“They just refuse to give up, they play four quarters and they get the job done,” Hawthorn legend Jason Dunstall said on Fox Footy.

“Having said that, Adelaide have just lost the unlosable. Poor goalkicking is poor football.

“Sorry Crows fans, that game should have been done to bits. You gave them a sniff and they took it.”

But Collingwood never gave up and pulled off their second epic final-quarter comeback in the space of a week.

The Magpies reeled in a 28-point three quarter time deficit against Essendon on Anzac Day and just five days later they’ve cemented their status as the AFL’s comeback kings.

To top it off, the victory means Collingwood is now on top of the ladder for the first time since 2012.
