The pair were engaged back in 2020, sharing photos of the moment when Brooksby got down on one knee at Uluru.

But three years on, the pair have finally tied the knot, choosing the Northern Territory for their big day because it holds a special connection for them after their engagement and Holmes’ connection with the territory.

While she was born in South Australia, Holmes revealed her sister’s kids had grown up in East Arnhem Land.

Holmes was also one of the highest profile female footballers in the NT before breaking into the AFLW in 2017.

She was also the first woman to kick 100 goals in a season of an established women’s football league when she booted 105 goals in 15 games across the 2013-14 season.

“Mr & Mrs 6.11.23 — The perfect day with the most perfect person in the Heart of Australia. #WeDoInUluru,” the pair posted on their Instagram pages.

Channel 7 AFL commentators Luke Hodge and Brian Taylor, as well as Magpies star Mason Cox were among the 100-person guest list.

“We’ve actually pulled it together quite quickly after we had our engagement party on December 30 last year with no plans of when we were getting married,” Holmes said via Seven News.

“It was only a week or so after that we kind of looked at each other and said if we don’t plan something it’ll never happen.

“If it was up to Keegan and I it would never have got done. We would have been screwed without (our wedding planner).”

Aussie swimming legend and fellow SAS contestant Steph Rice commented: “Absolutely stunning!!! Soo so happy for you both. the start of another amazing journey together … sending you both love and beautiful blessings. Xx”

AFL champion Joel Selwood wrote: “Beautiful guys,” while his wife Brit added: “Absolutely incredibl️e️ congratulations.”

SAS Australia winner Tim Robards commented: “Amazing.”

Olympic champion Lydia Lassila posted: “Such a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple”.

Many more of the happy couple’s friends joined in the well wishes.

The couple began dating in 2017 — when they matched on dating app Bumble.

Brooksby played one game in 2020 for Hawthorn, taking his AFL career tally to 15 games. He played 14 games for the Gold Coast Suns between 2015 and 2017.

Holmes retired from the AFLW following the 2018 season where she played a total of 11 games for the Crows, having played off the bench in Adelaide’s premiership in the competition’s inaugural season in 2017.

In 2019 she competed on Australian Survivor, finishing fifth, and returned to reality TV the following season for Australian Survivor All Stars.

She also took part in SAS Australia, where she made it to the final episode of the gruelling series.

Holmes’ career in front of the camera is on the rise and she said earlier this year she hopes to make a move to be part of the Channel 7 commentary team.

Holmes features as Channel 7’s ground-level commentator and analyst — but it appears just a matter of time before she is promoted.
